Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Drone Defence ("the Game", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our mobile application.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information (Sign-In Required for Purchases)
Drone Defence offers optional sign-in via Google Sign-In (Android) and Sign in with Apple (iOS). Signing in is required to make in-app purchases and to sync your high scores across devices. When you sign in, we collect:
- Email address — provided by your Google or Apple account. Used for account identification, purchase verification, and support communications.
- Display name — your name as provided by your Google or Apple profile, used to personalise your in-game identity.
- Account identifier — a unique ID from the identity provider (Google/Apple) used to associate your data with your account.
Guest Users (No Sign-In)
- If you use the Game without signing in, an anonymous local profile is created on your device.
- Guests can purchase. Sign-in links purchases to your account for restore.
- Guest game data (progress, high scores, settings) is stored locally via
AsyncStorage (Android) or NSUserDefaults (iOS) and is not synced to any server.
- Guest data may be lost if you uninstall the app or clear app data. Signing in is recommended to preserve your progress and high scores.
Purchase Data
- Purchase history — a record of in-app purchases made through your account, including item type, transaction ID, and purchase timestamp. Processed via the platform's payment processor (Google Play Billing / Apple App Store).
- We do not store full payment details (credit card numbers, billing addresses). All payment processing is handled securely by Google Play and the Apple App Store.
High Scores and Game Progress
- When signed in, your high scores and game progress are synced to our backend to enable cross-device access and leaderboard features.
- Guest high scores are stored locally only.
Advertising Data
The Game displays advertisements via third-party ad networks. These networks may collect:
- Advertising ID — a device-level identifier (e.g., Google Advertising ID, Apple IDFA) used for ad targeting and frequency capping.
- Usage data — anonymised interaction data (ad views, taps) used to measure ad performance.
- Device information — device model, OS version, and general location (not precise GPS) for relevant ad delivery.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising via your device's Settings (Android: Settings > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalisation; iOS: Settings > Privacy > Tracking).
Technical Data
- Crash reports — anonymised crash logs (device model, OS version, stack trace) to help us identify and fix bugs.
- Font assets — Press Start 2P and VT323 fonts are bundled with the app and loaded locally from
assets/fonts/. No external font download occurs.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account via Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple.
- To process and verify in-app purchases (buyables).
- To sync your high scores and game progress across devices when you are signed in.
- To serve advertisements and measure ad performance.
- To diagnose and fix crashes through anonymised error reporting.
- To communicate with you regarding purchase receipts, account issues, or policy updates.
3. Data Storage and Security
Account data and synced high scores are stored on our backend servers. We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted transmission (TLS) and secure authentication flows via Google and Apple's identity platforms.
Local game data (for guest users) is stored on your device using the platform's sandboxed storage APIs and is inaccessible to other applications.
Purchase transactions are processed directly by Google Play Store and Apple App Store. We never have access to your full payment credentials.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes. Data is shared only in the following contexts:
- Identity providers — Google and Apple receive your sign-in request data solely for authentication purposes. See Google's Privacy Policy and Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Ad networks — third-party ad partners receive anonymised advertising IDs and device information to serve ads. These partners have their own privacy policies governing your data.
- Payment processors — Google Play Billing and Apple App Store process all purchase transactions. We receive only confirmation of purchase, not your payment details.
- Legal requirements — We may disclose data if required by law or to protect our rights and the safety of our users.
5. In-App Purchases (Buyables)
Drone Defence offers optional in-app purchases ("buyables") such as credits, weapon upgrades, and cosmetic items. Purchases are only available to signed-in users. Guest users cannot make purchases.
When you make a purchase, a record of the transaction (item purchased, date, transaction ID) is associated with your account for receipt and entitlement verification purposes. Payment is handled entirely by the platform's payment system.
You can restore previous purchases by signing into the same account on a new device.
6. Advertising
The Game contains advertisements provided by third-party ad networks. These ads may be personalised based on your advertising ID and usage patterns. You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time:
- Android: Settings > Google > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalisation
- iOS: Settings > Privacy > Tracking > Allow Apps to Request to Track (disable)
Opting out of personalised ads does not remove ads entirely; you will still see non-personalised ads based on general context (e.g., game genre, time of day).
7. Children's Privacy
The Game is a general audience application and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated data.
- Data portability — request a copy of your data in a machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent — revoke ad personalisation consent via device settings at any time.
To exercise these rights, particularly to request account deletion if you no longer have access to the app:
We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
9. Data Retention
Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data, purchase history, and synced high scores are permanently removed from our servers within 30 days. Local guest data is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear app data.
Advertising IDs and related anonymised data are retained by ad partners per their own retention policies.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the Game after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
